Ear Wax Problems

Protocol for Patients with an ear wax problem

Ormeau Park Surgery will no longer be offering ear syringing or microsuction due to risk of perforation.

Please find below a list of options available to you.

Recommend Otex Express Combi Pack, or Exterol peroxide drops, or similar or olive oil from the chemist to soften the wax.

If a patient feels they have a problem with wax they will need an appointment with the Doctor to confirm it is a wax problem and not a perforation. This appointment will not result in ear syringing or microsuction.

If a patient wishes to have their ears syringed or have microsuction, they can contact private suppliers, for example Lisburn Hearing Centre – 92640302, Kerrsland Surgery - 90296600, Hidden Hearing, 54 High Street, Belfast, 90313330 or Lisburn Ear Wax Clinic (opening June 2023).
